Lake Garda is well know to be a windsurfing mecca, and is probably the
most famous windsurfing spot in middle Europe. In the morning, the “Peler”
wind blows from the North and it can reach up to 40 mph. In the afternoon the
wind called “Ora” blows from the South with about 20 to 30 mph. The
best spot to surf “Peler” is in Malcesine, the best spot to surf Ora is
"Hotel Pier".
First of all, remember: Windsurfing is a
northern lake thing! For kitesurfer, beware that in the Trentino area (Torbole, Riva)
kite
surfing is prohibited, you’ll better go to Malcesine or Limone instead.

Best
spots:
-Malcesine:
this spot is the best to take the Pelčr wind, very early in the morning. This
is the expert realm, not difficult to see locals performing forward loops here.
-Spiagge di Navene:
(north of Malcesine, before getting to Torbole) public beach, very frequented. Good for windsurf and kite surf, no rental facilities
tough.
-Conca D’oro (Torbole):
this spot is one of the better organized, Bar, Playa, Rental facilities,
Parking, Instructors, Camping. Optimal to take advantage of the Ora wind in
the afternoon. Riva del Garda: several shores here, to take advantage
of Ora wind, in the afternoon. As in Torbole several rental facilities.
-Hotel Pier 1:
this spot is located where the lake restricts, this gives to both Peler and
Ora their maximum power! Past edition of “King of the Lake” took place here,
and a very good surf center. Unfortunately is very difficult to reach, almost
no parking here, and quite far from nearest hotels and village. (Except if
you stay in Hotel Pier 1)
-Campione:
begineers spot, good for the afternoon. Not frequented by experts, is not in
the best position to take the wind.
-Prŕ
de la fam: by
Porto di Tignale, between Gargano and Campione. In windy
days parking is almost impossible, and if you succed parking do not expect to
be able to get out before the wind goes down. With Malcesine is the best spot
for Pelčr wind in the morning (it is exactly at the opposite shore).
